Contact Lens Assessments
Whether you’re new to contact lenses or need a refresher, we offer a full assessment and fitting. If you’ve tried and rejected contacts in the past or been told they’re not suitable, it’s worth trying again. Advances in lens technology mean they’re a lot more comfortable, easier to deal with and come in specialist types to deal with complex prescriptions.
Types of contact lens
As an independent opticians, we aren’t tied to any specific contact lens supplier so we’ll work with you to select the best lenses to suit you. We sell lenses made by Acuvue, Alcon, Cooper Vision and Bausch & Lomb.
For most people, disposable lenses are the easiest. We can supply daily, 2-week, and monthly disposable lenses. Toric lenses are available for people with astigmatism, and multifocal lenses are prescribed for those with presbyopia. Specialist contacts are now available for a variety of situations and lifestyles. You can even have Transitions light-intelligent lenses or contacts tailored for people who work with a screen all day.
What to expect
Your contact lens assessment takes around 30-40 minutes and starts with a full eye exam. We need to have an up-to-date prescription for your vision and check your eyes for any abnormalities that could affect lens wearing.
Once we have your prescription and understand your eye health we talk to you about your preferences and lifestyle. Do you want to wear contacts full-time or just for playing sports or special occasions? We work with you to identify the best type of lens for you and take measurements of your eyes so we can get them ordered.
If you’re not familiar with contact lenses, don’t worry, we’ll give you lessons on how to insert and remove them, and how to safely store and care for them.
We understand that aftercare is important, so we’ll set up another appointment for around 5 days after you start wearing your lenses so we can see how you’re getting on.
